The archive is not all online but you can discover Birth, marriage and death locations using Ancestry or similar websites to establish whether the person you are looking for is recorded at St Chad.

If so, and you wish to locate a family plot or check the parish registers then this can all be done via email. There is a standard fee of £32 and £16 thereafter.

Some of the oldest registers are accessible online, and some are located at the Manchester Archive, if you are uncertain please email and we can signpost you in the right direction.

We are currently digitising the archive and part of our project is to collect biographical information about the people of Saddleworth. This community led project is in its infancy but by building partnerships with other historical societies and with others like you, who have independently researched their families, we hope to bring our history to life.
