A highly visited grave, known locally as ‘Bill o’Jack’s’.
William Bradbury who died 2/04/1832 was murdered alongside his son Thomas Bradbury.
In this grave, we have also recorded the son of William who died 08/01/1854. The wife of William aged 84, named Esther 13/03/1859 aged 89. Another Thomas who died 25/09/1864 aged 73. Daughter of John buried 09/04/1884 and the wife of John buried 16/07/1902.
The engravers name was John Broadbent of Clarks.

The murders received national attention – such as the article from Liverpool Mercury, 13th April 1832 issue 1093.

Whilst researching James Platt, I have come across a printed correction from him to the editor of the Huddersfield Chronicle (West Yorkshire) Issue 487 printed Saturday 16th July 1859. In it he explains that he is responsible for the composition of the epitaph on ‘Bill’s o’ Jack’s and ‘Tom o’ Bill’s grave.
