In bell ringing, a ‘peal’ is a period of ringing, usually lasting around three hours and with over 5000 changes – all rung from memory of the method ‘blue line’. They are often rung for special occasions and commemorated with boards in towers.

Rung in memory of Stanley Cowburn, former Sexton, Verger, Archivist and Bellringer at this church. Stanley died on 20th December 2023 and was buried at St Katherine, Rowsley, Derbyshire on 11th February, 2024.
At the end of the peal it was lovely to be met by Stanley’s widow, Joan, and their two daughters Janice and Lucille who joined the band for refreshments.
