This publications shows various advertisements for local businesses and includes a letter from Russell E Rodgers. In this letter dated 19th April 1955 he writes how pleased my wife and I are that the Bishop has asked us to come to live and work among you… He goes on to say for over fourteen years I have lived in a moorland village in Yorkshire as headmaster of the village school…like Saddleworth, high and lifted up, and open to the four winds of heaven.
When we first visited your church we were very much impressed by the unanimity of thought expressed in the remarks in the visitors’ book. The words ‘Peaceful’, ‘Serene’, ‘Beautiful’, occur quite often. It is that quality of your church that has won our hearts too…
It is with those words I publish this gem of a news publication.
