1792 Rev. Charles Zouch, known as the mad Zouch seems to have become incumbent by association of his family. He was not happy and found the living fall beneath his expectations. His mother and sister reluctant to live at the Parsonage House. He however occupied the Cross Keys that he was intemperate in his habits, but irregular, forgetful, irritable and negligent in the performance of his duties.

He is buried at St Leonard Old Churchyard.
