• *As late as 1905 Joseph Rhodes was weaving broadcloth that was renowned throughout the valley for its enduring quality.  Suits made of it lasted a lifetime and were cut down to fit the children.  On the fifty-jinny his wife span both warp and weft.  Joseph Rhodes and his brother Robert (until his retirement) wove on the two handlooms; the bobbin (or winding) wheel and portions of the warping walls and the creeling farme are also in the picture.  So in this cottage at Deanhead the domestic woollen industry of Yorkshire expired. – W.B.
